accommodation info
BACKPACKER ACCOMMODATION: Some hostels and backpackers offer you free
accommodation in return for around 4 hours of work per day. They may also offer you
a weekly rate during the winter months.
LONG TERM ACCOMMODATION: Please contact www.acb.co.nz -click here- for more information and rates.
FINDING YOUR OWN FLAT: The best way to find your own flat would
be to check our noticeboard or through the local newspapers. A good suggestion would
be to get a job first and then look for a flat. That way if you don't have your own vehicle
you can search for a flat close to your job. If you are staying for 6 months or less in one
place then you may have to go into an existing flat or house, as landlords normally like
tenants for longer periods. Be prepared to pay a bond, which is normally 2 weeks in
advance, 2 weeks bond. Prices range from $95.00 for a room - $250.00 per week for a
whole house, flat or apartment depending on the location and the size of the house. If you
are prepared to pay a little bit more you may be able to get a house/apartment fully
furnished. Rent is usually paid weekly and expenses such as electricity food and phone
are shared between others in the house. NZJS can offer assistance in searching for
rental properties.
